Parker Marshall

"The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing" - James Brown

Growing up, I always pursued whatever held my interest, regardless of the intended outcome. In high school (Interlochen) it was theater, in college: filmmaking and 19th century lit. After college, I moved to Los Angeles in 2012 and worked in one of the best sales rep firms, as well as a couple tech startups. The tech scene was hard and stressful. To relieve the stress I would go dancing every night. LA had a great nightlife scene with retro bars, themed clubs, and dance floors always full. I befriended many people on the dance floor, especially DJ’s, as I always got the dance floor started. At one point a group a wedding DJ company hired me as a hype man at weddings and booked me as a “professional wedding crasher” (You can still book me through them). Around this time, I really liked the culture and the work, so I started taking DJ lessons in 2018.

When the events industry went on hiatus in 2020 I came back to Michigan.  I missed the nightlife in LA. So, I threw my own parties. I started booking gigs, and since then I’ve held numerous residencies, voted as the best DJ in Northern Michigan in 2023.

But I love weddings most of all. As I was trained in the alt wedding scene in California, I’ve become appreciated for my unique take on DJ’ing which is different than the norm in northern Michigan. My goal is to create a destination / experiential wedding culture, where people can’t wait to jump on the floor and dance their heart out, and remind / surprise them.

I’m the type of DJ you hire when you want to impress your guests, and have a real party. A wedding you look forward to, not some goofy-dad vibe. The kind where people lose their minds, and hobble home sore drenched in sweat after partying until the very last minute. The kind of wedding where your friends and guests keep reminding you how they had the best night of their lives after the best day of yours.

I’m an open format DJ, meaning I play any genre and switch between genres throughout the night. I love all kinds of music, and when I’m not DJ’ing, I’m digging and building sets to find new, cool things. When you hire me, I make it my duty to read the crowd, see what works, so everyone will have a good time. To name a few, I’m well versed in Funk, Soul, Disco, Hip hop, Rock (classic – contemporary), R&B, Country, Latin, Pop Music.

Foreign Language Music: Spanish, German, French, Albanian, Korean (Please note: if you would like me to play a foreign language party / wedding, outside of these languages listed above, I will need extra time to curate and familiarize myself with the music / genre and will need recommendations from your group.)

I’ve DJ’d for / at:

Parker was the epitome of professionalism, paired with a vibrant energy that brought an unparalleled level of fun and joy to our wedding celebration. His ability to read the room and adapt the music to the vibe was impeccable. We were especially impressed by how seamlessly he transitioned between songs and genres, ensuring there was never a dull moment. And his interactions with the guests, peppered with humor and warmth, made everyone feel included and important. But what truly sets Parker apart is his genuine passion for what he does. It's evident in the effort he put into understanding our preferences and in the enthusiasm he brought to the dance floor. Our wedding was an unforgettable occasion, and we owe a huge part of that to Parker. We wholeheartedly recommend him to any couple looking for a DJ who goes above and beyond to make their day special.
